For more than 35 years, the name of Reiloy has been a synonym for the successful manufacture of wear resistant screws for the plastics processing industry. The Troisdorf-based company has now taken into operation a new centrifugal casting machine and expanded its customer service by a "screw and barrel design" module. Complete product solutions from a single source are hallmarks of Reiloy's corporate philosophy. For example, hard alloys required for the armouring process are produced on the company's own powder atomisation plant. The metal powder is then welded as a protective layer onto the screws or is centrifugally cast into the barrels using centrifugal casting lines that have been developed and designed in part by the company itself. Reiloy disposes of a fully equipped materials laboratory to be able to continually adapt the wear-resistant layers to market and customer requirements. In addition, Reiloy engineers can use an intelligent network of universities and research facilities. In mid-2006, an additional centrifugal casting machine of the "PSM 6000" type was taken into operation. PSM 6000 was specificly designed and built for the production of large barrels. The machine featuring centrifugal casting capacities for barrels of 6000 m length, 600 mm outer diameter and bore diameters of up to 400 mm, is one of the largest of its kind worlwide. As is common practice at Reiloy, the company uses induction for heating the barrels up to the melt temperature of the hard alloys required for the centrifugal casting process. In mid-2006, Reiloy also expanded its scope of customers services by a "screw and barrel design" module and completed its team of experts by Karl-Heinz Hill, responsible project manager. Thanks to his long-term experience in the plastics processing industry, Mr. Hill is able to optimise production costs and performance of barrels and screws upon customer's request. This customer service and the proven wear-resistant layers complete Reiloy's portfolio of products in a very successful way. With record sales of approx. 20,000 bimetallic barrels in the past fiscal year 2006/07, Reiloy obtained a turnover of approx. 28 million € with about 125 employees. Thus, Reiloy is the market leader in Europe with a production capacity of far more than 20,000 bimetallic barrels per year. Bernhard Bolz Sales Manager Reiloy Metall |
